Mac OS X 10.4.6 Server verfügbar
Apple hat neben Mac OS X 10.4.6 für PowerPC- und Intel-Prozessoren
auch die Server-Variante für PowerPC-Macs aktualisiert. Bisher gibt es diese Variante noch nicht für Intel-Macs, sondern nur für PowerPC-basierte Macs. Folgendes schreibt Apple zum Server-Update:
- login, authentication and access controls in Open Directory and Active Directory environments
- file access and byte range locking when using AFP and CIFS file sharing protocols
- stability of NFS services, handling of file locks and file system permissions
- ensuring server’s host name is set to valid name in DNS at startup
- Open Directory password synchronization on busy servers
- publishing iTunes music and video formats using the Weblog server
- reliability of IMAP connections while handling file system writes
- virus filtering and quarantine; update to ClamAV version 0.88
- creating NetBoot and NetInstall images for Intel-based Macs
- using VPN and DHCP services after running Gateway Setup Assistant
- memory usage of Server Admin, FTP and Print services
- creating and editing reverse DNS zones in Server Admin
- accurate print quota enforcement following quota reset or change
- reliably running periodic scripts following server restart
- importing users with multiple short names into LDAP domain
- creating and rebuilding software RAID sets
- compatibility with third party applications and devices
- previous standalone security updates
